New test labs for PFAS soil remediation

C-biotech and DEME Environmental have launched two new test facilities in Temse and Charleroi to accelerate the remediation of PFAS-contaminated soil and dredged sediment using industrial hemp. At the heart of the process is Hempurizer+, a proprietary formulation that breaks down long-chain PFAS molecules into smaller compounds that can be absorbed by hemp roots.
By shifting from in-situ to ex-situ treatment in a controlled greenhouse environment, C-biotech and DEME enable multiple hemp harvests per year—significantly enhancing remediation efficiency.
